Spring MCAP Testing

Mon, 05/16/2022 - 10:44am

What is MCAP?
The Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) provides information to educators, parents, and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.

What are we testing?
The Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) will measure how well students performed in content presented during the school year (2021-2022). Students will take the assessment for the grade or course in which they are enrolled when the assessment takes place. For example: a current 6th grader will take the 6th grade English Language Arts/ Literacy (ELA/L) and Mathematics test, and a current 8th grader would take the 8th grade ELA and Math test, unless they are enrolled in Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra II.

When are Harper’s Choice students testing?
On the following days listed below, Harper’s Choice students will report directly to their assigned class for testing. Testing locations will be posted in 3 locations in the building. The testing schedule is as follows:

  • Friday AM, May 20: ELA Section 1
  • Friday PM, May 20: ELA Section 2
  • Monday AM, May 23: ELA Sections 3
  • Monday PM, May 23: ELA Section 4
  • Tuesday AM, May 24, Math Section 1 & 2
  • Wednesday AM, May 25, Math Sections 3 & 4
  • May 26-June 3: Make-up dates for all testing sessions missed

What materials will students need for testing?

Students MUST bring and use a HCPSS Chromebook for testing. They will not be able to use a personal laptop. Students should also bring their Chromebook chargers and headphones (Bluetooth/wireless headphones cannot be used for testing).
